Commercial Vehicle Emissions Scheme
Rebate for cleaner light commercial vehicles; surcharge for the most polluting
Administered by Land Transport Authority (LTA) · Window: 2021-04-01 → TBC
Support type
Registration-linked rebate or surcharge
Applies to Light Goods Vehicles (LGV) and small buses under 3,500 kg MLW. Bands based on emissions performance. Cleanest vehicles receive a rebate at registration; most-polluting receive a surcharge. Zero-tailpipe-emission vehicles receive the highest rebate.
Who qualifies
- · Light Goods Vehicles (LGV) under 3,500 kg Maximum Laden Weight
- · Small buses under 3,500 kg MLW
- · Vehicles above the 3,500 kg threshold fall under HVZES instead
- · Vehicles are banded based on emissions performance measured at registration
How to apply
- 1. Rebate or surcharge is applied automatically at LTA vehicle registration
- 2. No separate application form required — the vehicle's emissions band determines the amount
- 3. Verify the vehicle's CVES band with LTA before purchase, especially for fleet operators planning bulk purchases
Caps and window
Ongoing scheme with periodic banding updates. Verify current bands with LTA at time of registration.
Notes
CVES covers the vehicle class below HVZES's threshold. A fleet with mixed light and heavy vehicles will interact with both schemes.
