Green Mark Open

BCA Green Mark Scheme

Certified rating for sustainable buildings — no cash grant, but drives green finance access

Administered by Building and Construction Authority (BCA) · Window: 2005-01-01 → Ongoing

Support type

Certification standard (regulatory + market signal)

BCA Green Mark is Singapore's benchmark for building sustainability performance. It is not a direct cash grant, but Green Mark certification (Platinum, GoldPlus, Gold, Certified) is a prerequisite or scoring factor for multiple green-finance products (green loans, sustainability-linked lending) and ESG-linked capital allocation. Industrial estates that install EV charging infrastructure and integrated energy systems typically improve their Green Mark rating.

Who qualifies

  • · All building types — residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use
  • · New builds and existing buildings (via Green Mark for Existing Non-Residential / MND)
  • · Industrial estates and logistics warehouses can pursue Green Mark for Industrial Buildings
  • · Fleet-electrification infrastructure typically contributes points across multiple criteria

How to apply

  1. 1. Apply for Green Mark assessment through BCA's certification pathway (design stage or operational stage)
  2. 2. Assess the building against the current Green Mark criteria (updated periodically)
  3. 3. Submit design and operational data — BCA assesses and awards the certification tier
  4. 4. Re-certification typically every 3 years to maintain the rating

Caps and window

Ongoing scheme. Criteria are updated periodically — verify current version with BCA before applying.

Notes

Not a cash grant, but often the gatekeeper for green finance. Property owners pursuing fleet electrification typically find Green Mark improvement is a byproduct of the work — and can be structured deliberately for finance-access purposes.
